Dr. Festus Kofi Aubyn

Regional Coordinator, Research and Capacity Building 

Dr. Festus Kofi Aubyn is a senior Researcher and Lecturer, focusing on the dynamics of contemporary conflict and peace in Africa, peace operations, terrorism, violent extremism, and emerging security threats. He is currently the Regional Coordinator, Research and Capacity Building at the West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP). He leads the design, development, and implementation of all WANEP research activities and capacity building programmes. Before joining WANEP in November 2020, he worked with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Ghana as a senior Research Fellow for almost a decade.  Dr. Aubyn is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the KAIPTC, Webster University Ghana and the Ghana Armed Forces Staff and Command College, with several scholarly publications to his credit.  His most recent publications are – “ECOWAS Sanctions Against Mali Necessary, but May be Counter-Productive” (published by the International Peace Institute, New York, 2022); and “The Risk of Violent Extremism and Terrorism in the Coastal States of West Africa: Assessing Ghana’s Vulnerabilities, Resilience and Responses” (published in ACCORD Conflict Trends, 2021).
